Helping families reduce stress and anxiety through Orton-Gillingham reading intervention, ADHD parent support and special education advocacy.

At The Studio, we are dedicated to providing exceptional support, advocacy and reading intervention to special education students and parents in Florida.

My expertise is in Orton-Gillingham reading instruction, an evidence-based approach that helps individuals with language-based learning differences, like dyslexia, learn to read, write and spell.

ADHD parent support provides guidance in the paradigm shift necessary to effectively parent a child with ADHD - a developmental disorder we know is neurobiological in origin.  An "invisible" disorder, ADHD can take an incredible toll on the entire family.  My goal is to help you restore balance to your home.  After careful consultation and customization, I will help you implement an effective system and provide accountability, so your family can start moving in a different direction.

As your advocate, I work side-by-side with you to help get your child the public education support and services they deserve.

The Studio strives to give hope back to students and families...and empower children to reach their full potential.

Working with Casey has really opened my eyes to the importance of having an advocate. I have struggled to get accommodations for my older daughter for YEARS. when my younger daughter received a diagnosis of dyslexia I decided that I didn’t want to walk this path alone anymore. Casey is kind, compassionate, so well spoken and she speaks their language. She knows when to push for something and when the school really cannot do much else. The first school meeting with Casey present was such a game changer for us. I finally felt like the school was working to help my child instead of putting up roadblocks. My experience with Casey has been so positive that I plan on using her to get better accommodations and services for my older daughter.

Our family was navigating the school system's process to get an IEP in place to help our son. The process was already delayed and we were frustrated and concerned about our son's difficulties in school.

Casey was referred to us by a friend as a Student Advocate, and we could not be more grateful. She helped us understand our rights as parents, she interpreted the school's and our physicians' findings, and she was also an objective point of view throughout the process.

We just started working with Casey in January for our 6 year old son with dyslexia. He can be challenging to work with due to his ADHD, but she is finding creative ways to keep him engaged. After just two months we are seeing so much progress and he can read a few words now. Before he had trouble with even sounding out letter. So glad we found her!

So glad we found her!

Casey helped my family recently when we were faced with a tough meeting with our educators. She was an incredible advocate for our son and family. Her knowledge regarding the topic was impressive and extremely helpful.

I brought my daughter to begin sessions with Casey after being diagnosed with Dyslexia. My daughter struggles with anxiety and withdrawal/lack of cooperation in instructional settings. Casey has been wonderful in accommodating her needs to help her reach her full potential during her sessions. Casey is super crafty when thinking of ways to ease my daughter’s anxiety, like the creation of videos detailing the tasks that my daughter will complete at her next session. We’re looking forward to continuing to watch our daughter progress while working with Casey!

My daughter came to Casey with delays due to dyslexia. After a short period of time working with her, she’s had an increase of 200% based on her tests. My daughter loves seeing Casey, they play games so she’s not even aware of how hard she’s working. I’m beyond thrilled with the massive difference Casey has made in her education and catching her up to grade level.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why hire an advocate?

Advocating on a child's behalf can become a full-time job for a parent.

Parents hire special education advocates to help them understand their rights and secure the appropriate special education services for their child. Advocates help parents and schools develop individualized education plans (IEPs), interpret test results, and understand available services. The following are the main duties that special education advocates undertake.

  • Help parents submit written requests
  • Draft complaints, responses, and requests to the school
  • Interpret and explain evaluations and reports to parents
  • Advise parents about recommendations, services, and programs best fit for their child
  • Advise parents about their cases before review
  • Refer parents to special education attorneys if needed
  • Offer advice and give recommendations during IEP and 504 meetings
  • Set objectives, prioritize goals, and suggest support materials before IEP and 504 meetings
  • Check special education documents before and after meetings

*Please note:  Advocates are not attorneys.

The Breakfast Wars-and it doesn't have to be "pinterest-y"

Maybe you've heard of Dr. Seuss's title, The Butter Battle Book?  Well, I could have written a novel called, The Breakfast Battle Book!  Tell me if this sounds familiar.  Your little angel LOVED bagels and cream cheese last week.  But today, they are disgusting!  And he doesn't like the classic breakfast sausage.  He needs the maple breakfast sausage.  I mean...DUH!  What are you, crazy??? He doesn't want his bread butter side up.  Zooks eat their bread with the butter side down.
